Here's the deal - we've been designing buildings in Toronto since before everyone got obsessed with data privacy, and honestly? We handle your personal info the same way we handle our design blueprints: with care, respect, and locked away when not in use.
This isn't one of those policies written by lawyers who've never actually talked to a real person. We're architects, not tech giants, so our approach to your data is pretty straightforward.
When you reach out to us about a project or just browse our site, here's what we might end up with:
We're not collecting data for fun. Here's what we actually do with it:
Getting Back to You: Pretty obvious, right? You contact us, we need your info to respond.
Working Together: Once you're a client, we use your details throughout the project - consultations, updates, invoices, all that jazz.
Making Our Site Better: We look at how people use our website so we can improve it. Nobody likes a clunky site.
Legal Stuff: Sometimes Canadian law says we gotta keep certain records. We're not trying to break any laws here.
We don't sell your data. Period. That's not our business model - we make buildings, not ad revenue.
That said, sometimes we need to share info with:
Everyone we work with is bound by confidentiality agreements tighter than a cathedral's buttresses.
Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These are little bits of code that help our website remember you and understand how you're using it.
Most browsers let you block cookies if you're really not into it, but heads up - some parts of our site might not work as smoothly. Your call though.
We use Google Analytics to see what pages people actually look at. If you want out, there's browser extensions for that. We won't be offended.
If we end up working together, we'll keep your project files and contact info for as long as Canadian business regulations require - usually about seven years. That's standard for architecture firms.
If you just contacted us but we didn't end up working together, we'll keep your inquiry for about two years, then it's gone. Unless you ask us to delete it sooner, which brings us to...
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA, if you're into acronyms), you've got some solid rights:
We take security seriously. Our digital files are encrypted, our physical files are locked up, and access is limited to people who actually need it for their work.
Is any system perfect? Nah. But we're using industry-standard security practices and we're always updating our protocols. If there's ever a breach (knock on wood), we'll let you know ASAP.
Our website might link to other sites - maybe a supplier, a portfolio piece location, whatever. Once you click away from our site, this privacy policy doesn't apply anymore. Those other sites have their own policies, and honestly, we can't vouch for 'em.
Things change. Laws get updated, technology evolves, we might add new services. When we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and if it's a big change, we'll probably send an email to our active clients.
Check back here once in a while if you're curious. Or don't. We're architects, not the thought police.
We're based in Toronto, Ontario, and most of our work's in Canada. If you're reaching out from elsewhere, know that your data might be processed here under Canadian law. We think that's pretty solid protection, but if you've got concerns, let's talk about it.
Look, if you've read this far, you're either really thorough or really bored. Either way, if you've got questions about how we handle your information, just reach out. We're people, we answer emails.
